JuiceFS will be presenting at DeveloperWeek New York 2026 in June!
Title: Managing Unpredictable Quantitative Research Workloads: An Open Source Approach
In this talk, we will explore how quantitative trading firms can address the infrastructure challenges of AI/ML-driven research, where unpredictable, bursty workloads push traditional storage solutions to their limits. Key demands include high elasticity for sudden compute tasks and modularity to protect proprietary models, along with critical POSIX compatibility for diverse AI tools, as direct use of object storage can sometimes create bottlenecks. We will present an evaluation framework comparing managed cloud file systems and then introduce an architectural blueprint based on an open-source, distributed file system that decouples performance from cost. This design delivers high-throughput access to hot data via sophisticated caching layers while leveraging low-cost object storage for archives, all seamlessly integrated with Kubernetes and cloud-first infrastructure.
