The Distributed File System for AI Built on Object Storage
Object storage is the hidden backbone of modern distributed data infrastructure. At The IT Press Tour 68th Edition in Boston, Joe Zhou (developer advocate @JuiceFS) shows why so many systems like TiDB X, Neon, RisingWave, LanceDB, Chroma, Milvus, turbopuffer, and of course JuiceFS are built on top of object stores. He also demonstrates how JuiceFS compares to Amazon's new S3 Files service. Key takeaway: the combination of affordable backing storage, smart multi-layer caching, and a set of rich APIs changes the economics of AI, databases, search engines, and distributed file systems.
